Eight projects will share in more than $3.8 million as part of the 2024 Discovery Projects scheme, while one Macquarie University project has been successful in the latest Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF) funding round.
The 2024 Discovery Projects scheme awarded 421 projects nationally, for a funding total of $220.2 million. The scheme supports researchers and research teams working on projects with economic, commercial, environmental, social and/or cultural benefits for Australia.
The LIEF scheme, which awarded 35 projects nationally, encourages collaboration by supporting the cooperative use of large-scale infrastructure, equipment and facilities.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Sakkie Pretorius, said the scope of the successful projects, which spread across seven different schools or departments, reflects the University’s commitment to research excellence and innovation.
“These schemes are crucial in supporting research capability to address the complex challenges facing our world today,” Professor Pretorius said. “Congratulations to all funding recipients. I look forward to seeing how their research contribution makes a positive impact.”
