Pitch@Palace was founded by HRH in 2014 as a platform to amplify and accelerate the work of entrepreneurs. The program guides, helps and connects entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses with a global network of potential supporters including CEOs, influencers, angels, investors, mentors and business partners.
Pitch@Palace On Tour Sydney took place on Monday 19 November. Pitch@Palace Australia On Tour events provide entrepreneurs from across the country with the opportunity to learn about the program, connect to local stakeholders and receive mentoring to develop their business.
Entrepreneurs who have identified opportunities across a broad range of technologies, from biotech to education, health and robotics, will compete to progress to the national Boot Camp in Brisbane on 28 November. Selected entrepreneurs will go on to pitch their winning business ideas at Pitch@Palace Australia 2.0 on 30 November.
Pitch@Palace Australia On Tour Sydney was hosted by Macquarie University and the University of Wollongong.
“Pitch@Palace puts Australian innovators in front of a global audience of influencers that can help jumpstart their business ideas. We are thrilled to be supporting this event for the second year and to see the impressive level of competition, some of whom have been supported by Macquarie University Incubation programs,” said Professor Stephen Brammer, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at Macquarie University.
“Universities are natural homes to innovators and people with big ideas, so it makes perfect sense for the University of Wollongong (UOW) to support Pitch@Palace in Australia again in 2018 as one its foundation University Partners,” said UOW Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Strategy) Professor Alex Frino. “UOW is also fully committed to nurturing entrepreneurs with our iAccelerate business incubator for start-up companies, so getting behind Pitch@Palace works well for us from that perspective as well.”
Carmen Platt, founder of The Generous and The Grateful, a start-up which aims to connect people with spare household goods to those who need them, has been selected to take part in Pitch@Palace On Tour Sydney.
“A three-minute pitch isn’t long to share a deep understanding of all that we do, the lives we impact, our amazing partners and how much we care about it,” said Ms Platt.
“While we have enjoyed rapid early growth, meaning on average we can assist four to six families each week, Pitch@Palace means getting in front of future partners that will enable us to scale and expand, multiplying the feeling of home and safety we deliver.”
The winners of Pitch@Palace Australia 2.0 will be invited to Pitch@Palace Global 3.0 at St James’s Palace in London in December, and will have the opportunity to network with potential investors and influential members of the international business community.
