Natural Sciences jumped 94 places to rank 190th, and Life Sciences and Medicine has continued an upwards trajectory into the top 250 for the first time, ranking 246th.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks the world’s top universities in individual subject areas using a combination of research citations, as well as the University’s reputation among academics and employers.

Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor and President Professor S Bruce Dowton says the latest subject rankings reflect Macquarie’s reputation for research and teaching excellence across a broad range of disciplines.

“Macquarie University has achieved a breadth and depth of research excellence that places us among the top Universities globally, and it is within this research-enriched environment that we equip our students for future success,” says Professor Dowton.

“We continue to focus on investing in our areas of strength, attracting top-performing researchers, and engaging within and outside academia to drive discovery and innovation.”

In June 2021, QS ranked Macquarie 200th globally in its annual World University Rankings.
