In Session 2, 2015, students who have been studying the Bachelor of Arts with a major in media, culture and communication and the Master of International Trade and Commerce Law in the Macquarie University City Campus will be relocated to the North Ryde campus, as part of the ongoing transition process in the City Campus.
From 2016 Macquarie University will be taking over the management of the city campus from Navitas. The new Macquarie University Sydney City Campus will initially focus on teaching a range of professional business programs to suit the location and students' needs.
This change will not affect the students' standing as Macquarie University students, or their progressions towards graduation. Students' individual program plans have been adapted to support the students with their studies and degree completion. Students relocating to North Ryde campus will have access to facilities and additional options for electives and majors which are available in North Ryde.
Further information will be provided to students in the coming weeks to discuss updates about the transition.
Below are some of the questions asked at a recent information session. More questions are posted in our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page.

Have questions?
Below are some of the questions asked at a recent information session. More questions are posted in our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page.
- How does the campus location change impact my study plan? Each student's study plan has been developed to indicate when you will need to do units to complete your degree. Please ensure you go through this study plan with the Faculty of Arts Student Centre or Student Connect.
- Do I have to change my student ID number? No, your student number remains the same. However, you will need to get a new swipe card for access at the North Ryde campus at the start of Session 2.
- Will HECS go unchanged?Yes, there will be no changes with your HECS. You are a Macquarie student and so all the agreements and options that you signed up to (like course transfers) will still be valid. We will have one-on-one session with you to work out your study plans and course duration, to help you graduate as planned.
- Will there be an orientation?Yes, there will be orientation for you. All students will be invited to attend Macquarie University's official orientation session which is held a week before classes start. Student Connect will also be open during the breaks, 5 days a week, to assist you.
- Can I change my major?Yes, you can but you will need to get assistance to do this via the Faculty of Arts Student Centre. It should be noted that changing your major is likely to impact on your completion date.
