The Faculty of Arts welcomes its new Executive Dean - Professor Martina Möllering.
Professor Möllering, who has been Acting Executive Dean since August 2014, has been permanently appointed in the role effective immediately.
Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton announced the appointment yesterday.
Professor Dowton said, "I am very pleased that the recruitment process found the talent and expertise needed to continue to develop the Faculty over the coming years in a member of our own staff. It is a strong endorsement of the quality and abilities of the staff within the University and the Faculty of Arts in particular."
"[Professor Möllering's] many leadership roles at the University throughout her career, and her international research profile make her an excellent appointment to lead the Faculty of Arts. It remains a vital part of the educational experience we offer our students, and central to our mission as a University of service and engagement."
Professor Möllering began her academic career in 1988, completing her BA (Hons) in Education at the University of Essen, Germany. She moved to Australia shortly after, and joined Macquarie University in 1991 as an Associate Lecturer in German Studies. Since then she has gained both a Master and a PhD in Applied Linguistics, becoming Director of Higher Degree Research for the Division of Humanities in 2003, and entering the professoriate in 2008 as Professor of European Languages.
In acknowledgement of her research expertise, she was invited to join the 2010 and 2012 Research Evaluation Committees for the Humanities and Creative Arts in the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative and was recently confirmed as a member of the panel for the 2015 ERA round.
