Travel to Mars, test your mathematical skills, explore your brain and go on an archeological dig at Macquarie’s Open Day in 2015, as staff and students reflect on a year of pioneering research, learning and teaching, and welcome future students to get involved.
From 10am to 4pm on Saturday 12 September, more than 15,000 visitors are expected on campus to pursue their study objectives, or simply explore the facilities and expertise of one of Australia’s premier universities.
Come along to learn something new, or set off on a bus or trackless train tour across our campus to visit our state-of-the-art library, the Australian Hearing Hub, our multimillion dollar media facilities, Art Gallery and Museums, and some of Australia’s best science and engineering labs.

There will also be a number of PACE lectures throughout the day. A key component of Macquarie’s unique learning environment, PACE (Professional And Community Engagement) is an initiative that helps our students develop valuable career skills through practical experience in the workplace or community. Our PACE experiences are fully integrated into our curriculum, with Macquarie the only Australian university to offer such a program.
Take a break throughout the day by kicking back alongside Macquarie’s iconic lake, take a camel ride or listen to great music.

- Come to the ancient cultures hub and try our front line archaeological excavation test pits, where you will get the opportunity to unearth hidden items with our ancient cultures experts on hand to answer questions.
- See live demonstrations of brain activity measurement - it may even be your brain activity that we reveal. Also hear about our Cognitive and Brain Sciences major, which is suitable for anyone interested in exploring how the mind and brain works.
- Are you a maths whiz? Come and visit the mathematics booth to learn about exciting careers in mathematics, try our online quiz to test your skill and ability, and view the on-screen Mathematica Graphics display.
- Fascinated by policing and detective work? Why not ask our staff about the range of courses and opportunities available in criminology, security studies, policing and intelligence.
- Take a tour on campus on our Trackless Train.
