Professor Tickle replaces Professor Eric Knight, who moved into the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor, People and Operations, in September.
Professor Leonie Tickle has been appointed the Executive Dean for Macquarie Business School.
Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton pointed to Professor Tickle’s long-standing leadership – both within the school and in her discipline – as a key factor in her appointment.
“Professor Tickle has been a key driver of the Macquarie Business School’s success across a number of leadership roles, including in her recent role as Deputy Dean, Research and Innovation, and previously as Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching,” he said.
“As an internationally recognised scholar, and Australia’s first female actuary professor , Professor Tickle has been an eminent leader in the fields of actuarial science and demographic forecasting and is well placed to guide the Macquarie Business School in its continued mission of transformative education and research.”
Professor Tickle said she was honoured to lead an internationally recognised faculty with a strong purpose and distinctive educational offering.
“It’s a privilege to step into this role and to have the opportunity to work with extraordinary colleagues, students and partners during this next stage of our school’s evolution’” she said.
“Macquarie Business School offers some of the highest-ranked courses in Australia, delivering nation-leading career impact, and advancing world-class research.
“I look forward to leading an innovative and future-focused school that truly delivers impact for our students and partners, and whose research addresses society’s biggest challenges.”
The Macquarie Business School also welcomed Jessica Keath as its new Faculty Executive Director in late October, with both appointments marking an exciting new period for the school.
