The 2025 subject rankings, released this week, measure the performance of research-intensive universities across teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.
Education was ranked 91st, maintaining its place in the top 100 globally for the seventh consecutive year, and Psychology placed 96th.
These subjects, as well as Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Computer Science, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences, also ranked in the top 10 in Australia.
Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton said it was pleasing to see the University’s broad disciplinary strength reflected in the new rankings, with all disciplines again placing in the top 200 globally.
“These rankings reflect Macquarie University’s dedication to delivering an exceptional learning experience for all our students so that they can go on to thrive in their chosen fields,” he said.
“I am grateful to our academic community for their dedication to this mission and congratulate them on these results.”
THE subject rankings are based on performance indicators used for its overall university rankings, with the methodology refined for each discipline and weightings adjusted to suit individual subjects.
The 2025 edition of THE’s rankings included 1904 universities across 108 countries and regions.
